Fine Feathered Friends
Kindergarten Readiness – 4 years to 5 years
We believe that preparing our children for kindergarten is one of our primary goals at The Nest. Our certified teachers incorporate theme and center-based learning through hands on activities. These activities help develop fine and gross motor skills and help develop pre-reading and writing skills. We strive to foster independence and building a positive self-image during their daily activities. Through assessments, we can determine a child’s strengths as well as areas that may need further attention. This is done to ensure a successful transition into kindergarten as they prepare for a more structured environment.
Elements of our Kindergarten Readiness program:
- Weekly themes and letters
- Circle time – days of the week, months, seasons, and weather
- Arts and crafts
- Zumba class
- Math and science
- Structured games and taking turns
- Identifying and writing numbers and letters
- Working together – cooperation
- Fostering independence
- Writing first and last names
- Outdoor play
Although preparing this age group for kindergarten is a big component of our program, we appreciate the fact that they are still preschoolers and need plenty of opportunity for free play and social interaction. We also allow for quiet times to recharge and balance their day. They are here to receive plenty of love, have fun, and receive a stress free flight to kindergarten!
